For the past 12 years KHS has hosted our annual signature event, Tails at Twilight, at different venues throughout the area. The biggest and most important fundraiser of the year, Tails is called upon to support 10% of the shelter's annual income. Hundreds of animal lovers come together to celebrate, dine, and bid on hundreds of unique auction items in support of KHS' life-saving mission.
Join us this year when the Perseid Meteor Shower occurs the same evening!
The Perseid Meteor Shower, one of the brightest meteor showers of the year, will occur the evening of August 12th through the morning of August 13th. Typically, there are 80 meteors per hour. Perseid occurs because the Earth is passing through the path of Comet Swift-Tuttle. This comet, with a radius of 16 miles, is th largest object known to repeatedly pass by Earth. It last passed in 1992 and will pass again in 2126. However, Earth passes through the dust and debris it left behind, creating the annual shower. Those shooting stars are really comet dirt. But make a wish anyway!
Enjoy an evning under the stars at this exquisite outdor setting. Viewing the meteor shower will be a delight at this location - far away from the city lights. Enjoy a delicious dinner under a tented setting, music, prizes, raffles, and silent and live aution items will be available for your bidding pleasure. As dusk approaches, get ready to view Mother Nature's fireworks!
Mark Peterson, KXLY-TV Good Morning Northwest Anchor and animal lover, will once again join us as Emcee and auctioneer for the evening. KHS is honored to have Mark volunteer his time and talents with us for many years. We are truly blessed by his passion and dedication to the animals and our community.
