Safe Haven for Pets

Safe Haven for Pets is a partnership between KHS and Safe Passage Violence Protection Center. This program offers a life-saving alternative for family violence victims and their companion animals. Safe Haven for Pets allows Safe Passage clients to place one or more pets into a foster program for a period of 24 hours and up to two weeks while they are in a shelter or temporary housing that will not allow them to keep their pets. Safe Haven for Pets eliminates the barrier for fleeing victims by allowing them to bring their pets with them to a safe shelter. For more information about Safe Haven for Pets call Safe Passage Violence Protection Center at 208.664.9303

KHS also partners with the American Red Cross and the Crisis Center to provide shelter and care for animals who are homeless due to major manmade/natural disasters, or for those needing temporary pet care due to mandatory treatment.  KHS will house these animals until their owners return home.
