LEGACY OF LOVE

A gift to Kootenai Humane Society demonstrates your belief in our mission and reinforces your commitment to save the lives of the homeless and abandoned animals in our community.  Many types of gifts will allow you to fulfill your charitable intentions as well as result in possible immediate and future tax benefits to you.

Rosie Lehrer Fund for Kootenai Humane Society

Rosie was a cat that left a lasting impression on her owner and continues to help other animals every day. When Sharon Lehrer passed away in 2014 she created the Rosie Lehrer Fund for Kootenai Humane Society as part of her estate planning. Named in honor of Sharon's beloved cat and companion, the fund makes an annual distribution to Kootenai Humane Society for general operations and the care of animals. Sharon loved all animals, and she specified that no funds may be used to euthanize any animal that is not terminally ill. Her generosity supports the Humane Society in providing warm shelter, loving care and medical assistance to more than 2,000 animals in Kootenai County each year. We can thank Rosie for helping to keep the animals of the Coeur d'Alene area safe and happy.  Inland Northwest Community Foundation

A Gift - In her passing, Joan M. Nelson named Kootenai Humane Society as her beneficiary through our Legacy of Love giving program.  Through her kindness, compassion, and generosity, we will be able to continue to make a difference in the quality of life for the animals in our community and our Adoption Center.

GUARDIAN ANGEL

Often caring people ask us how they can sponsor an animal until they are in a loving home. Or sometimes people come in and they cannot adopt for one reason or another, but they just want to help.  For these reasons and others like them, we developed the Guardian Angel program for both cats and dogs.  The Guardian Angel program allows individuals to contribute toward the adoption fee of a cat or dog so they can find their furrever home.

Stop by the shelter any day after 12:00 p.m. and choose the animal you would like to sponsor.  The front desk staff will be able to assist you.
