As of March 17th and until further notice, KHS is closed to the public.
New Adoption Process
During this time, adoptions are available by appointment only.
Please complete the Pre-Adoption Questionnaire. A KHS team member will be in touch.
Adoption appointments are limited to one hour.
We are trying to limit the amount of in-person contact with the staff so appointments are limited to two family members in the shelter.
Pet Hold Policy: If the pet you have selected is not currently ‘Available’ for adoption, you can place a $25 non-refundable hold on that pet. As soon as the pet is made ‘Available’ you will be contacted to come in and finish up the adoption process.
Pet Meets: We do require dog-to-dog meet and greets. If you intend to adopt the day you come to the shelter, bring your dog/s with you.
We Require Landlord Approval: If you rent, please bring a copy of your rental agreement and proof of pet deposit. You can also provide your property manager's telephone number and we will place a call to verify that you are approved to have a pet and your deposit has been paid. We cannot put an animal on hold to verify that you are approved to have a pet, so please be sure to have all of that information prior to coming to adopt.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we find homes for pets as quickly and efficiently as possible.
When you adopt a pet from KHS, not only are you adding to your family, you’re saving a life!

When you adopt a pet from us your adoption fee helps to provide medical care, food and shelter for the animals in our care and since we are a No-Kill shelter there is no time limit to how long we will keep an animal.
