Animal Care Technician

KHS is currently seeking an Animal Care Technician.  The successful candidate will work directly with the animals under supervision of the Lead Technician.  Responsibilities include feeding, watering, vaccinating, medicating as directed by the veterinarian, grooming, training, and exercising the animals.  Maintaining the cleanliness of the facility including all individual kennels, public and restricted areas, and all equipment and supplies used, is of the utmost importance.  Assist customers with a positive and professional attitude.  Be knowledgeable of all animals in your care to offer customers assistance with adoptions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of animal breeds, companion animal behavior, and care requirements needed.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as participate in a team environment.
  • Ability to safely handle and control large and/or difficult animals.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the public (ie: good customer relation skills a must!)

Customer Service Representative

KHS is currently seeking a Customer Service Representative to handle front counter transactions, telephone calls, and clerical duties related to those transactions.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Handle all counter transactions, which include: assist the public to surrender, redeem and adopt animals; receive complaints; process trap rentals; receive animal pick-up calls; provide general information on animals and animal behavior; and dog license procedure.

2. Handle incoming calls relating to the above.

3. Process animal adoptions and assist animal technicians and the veterinarian with customer spay/neuter/vaccine clinic.

4. Handle daily cash transactions, operate cash register, closing cash register, and email deposit report to manager.

5. File and trace dog license records, sell dog licenses.

6. Complete other duties and assignments upon request.

7. Keep work areas in a clean and orderly manner.

8. Provide humane care and treatment to all animals.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be in good health, able to bend, twist and lift 40lbs.
  • Highly motivated toward the welfare and humane treatment of all animals.
  • Workable knowledge of proper care for animals.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to work well with the public and fellow employees and volunteers.
  • Strong computer, filing, record keeping,and telephone skills.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to communicate with unruly people in a very fast paced environment.
  • Must have strong, proven customer service skills.

 

Working conditions:

Must work irregular hours, shifts including weekends. Be able to deal with a fast paced work load that at times can be extremely stressful. Be able to deal with strenuous physical activity and the emotional drain of the position.
