Welcome To Kootenai Humane Society sticky icon

Welcome to Kootenai Humane Society's website. We are a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. KHS is not a government agency and we do not receive funds from the City, County, State or Government. We depend entirely on Grants, Fundraisers, income from the Adoption Center, Thrift Stores, and Donations.

The mission of Kootenai Humane Society is to provide quality humane care, rehabilitation, adoption, and education for the good of the animals and their companions in our community. Along those lines, our intention is to create lifetime friends through adoption.

Please take a moment to browse through the website and learn about our extensive programs, volunteer opportunities and continuous events in the community. If you're looking for a pet, check out the Pet Finder page where all of our animals are posted. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Legacy of Love

In her passing, Joan M. Nelson named Kootenai Humane Society as her beneficiary through our Legacy of Love giving program.  Through her kindness, compassion and generosity, we will be able to continue to make a difference in the quality of life for the animals in our community and our Adoption Center.
